Calling all Luther graduates who volunteered with the Peace Corps, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, Americorps or similar service organizations!

As part of its Sesquicentennial Celebration, Luther College is hosting a reunion for alumni who served as full-time volunteers after graduation.  The gathering, Transformed by Service, is a way to recognize and celebrate the ways these alumni have furthered Luther’s mission of serving with distinction for the common good.

The reunion will be held Friday, March 4, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Hammarskjold Lounge, 2nd floor, Dahl Centennial Union.  Following the reunion, participants are invited to attend the 23rd annual Nobel Peace Prize ForumStriving for Peace: Courage to Act—as guests of the college.  The Forum begins the evening of Friday, March 4 and concludes Saturday, March 5.

Photo Exhibit

In conjunction with this event the college is arranging a photography exhibit that will be on display in the Dahl Centennial Union Gallery from March 1-18, 2011.

Those wishing to participate in the “Transformed by Service” exhibit are asked to submit one photographic image that represents their project along with a short caption that explains how they were “transformed” by the experience.  Also include the nature, time and place of service along with the alum’s name and class year.  Material may be sent either electronically or via regular mail, with e-mail preferred for captions and text.  Submissions will not be returned, so please send only copies of original photos.  There is no specific size requirement for the images, but 5”X7” or larger is strongly recommended.  Images should not be mounted, matted or framed since they will simply be pinned or fixed directly to the gallery walls, bulletin-board style.  Deadline for receipt of material is Feb. 1, 2011.

Send submissions to David Kamm, Gallery Coordinator, Center for the Arts, Luther College, 700 College Drive, Decorah, IA 52101.  Emailed materials should be sent to kammdavi@luther.edu.  Contact Kamm via e-mail or phone (563-387-1665) with questions about the exhibit.
