    Colin Gordon, University of Iowa professor of history, will present the guest lecture "The Fire this Time: St. Louis, Ferguson and the American City" at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Valders Hall of Science Room 206 on the Luther College campus. The event, part of Luther's "Don't Shoot—The Perils and Promises of Privilege" Series, is open to the public with no charge for admission.

    Composition Colloquium on Luther campus March 8

    Luther's Composition Colloquium, featuring composer Mike D'Ambrosio, will take place at noon Sunday, March 8, in the Choir Room of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. The colloquium will be followed by a Faculty Artist Series recital at 2 p.m. in the Noble Recital Hall, by John Cord, Luther assistant professor of music.

    Renowned for humanitarian efforts during her two terms as president of Ireland, Mary McAleese will highlight the peace process in Ireland during the onstage conversation, "Faith, Peace, and Leadership: A Conversation with Mary McAleese, President of Ireland 1997-2011," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther College campus.

    Ambassador, Peace Corps rep talk about careers in diplomatic service

    A foreign service veteran and a Peace Corps representative will share their experiences working internationally in a talk at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the Franklin W. Olin Building Room 102. Ian Kelly, Midwest Diplomat-in-Residence with the U.S. Department of State, and Kera Halvorson, Peace Corps recruiter, will discuss international opportunities and internships, as well as their career paths and experiences.
