Bringing to life the story of the fight for Irish independence, the music and dance ensemble Celtic Nights will perform as part of the Luther College Center Stage Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.
Jazz band SearchParty will present a guest recital at 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther College campus. The band was formed after trumpeter Benje Daneman was commissioned to create a musical work based on the use of light in the Bible. Through his collaboration with other musicians, the 45-minute jazz suite "Light in the Darkness" was brought to life.
Is self-actualization a uniquely human process or do systems, such as academic institutions, follow a similar path? From their respective disciplines of chemistry and social work, Luther professors Brad Chamberlain and Britt Rhodes will discuss what they see changing and remaining the same in their lives, disciplines and institution. The lecture, titled "Identity and the Academy: Embracing Change," will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.
The Luther College music department is pleased to host Luther alumnus Justin Knoepfel in a guest viola recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. Knoepfel will give a lecture, "Discerning a Vocation in Music," at 6 p.m., following the recital, in the Choir Room of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.
