Norsemen is one of six auditioned choral ensembles at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Established in 1981, the group is comprised of first-year men, selected each fall and spring by audition. They perform in worship services on and off-campus, participate in the annual Christmas at Luther concert, the Dorian Vocal Festival, and present a spring concert with Aurora, Luther's choral ensemble for first-year women. The choir has also participated in Luther performances of major choral/orchestral works, such as Beethoven's Mass in C major and Bach's The Passion According to St. John.
Norsemen has performed at several North Central American Choral Directors Association conferences most recently at the 2011 NC-ACDA convention in Chicago. They were also guests of the Great Northern Union at the 2012 and 2013 Collegiate Men's Choral Festival in St. Paul, Minn. Norsemen are featured on their own recording, O, Sing Jubilee (2007), along with all the Christmas at Luther recordings which are available through the Luther College Book Shop. Most recently, Norsemen were featured in the 2012 Christmas at Luther: Tidings of Comfort and Joy singing the new piece "A King is Born," now available through Morningstar Music.
Norsemen is conducted by Dr. Andrew Last.
