Soprano Rachel Ware received her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Minnesota.  An alumna of Luther College, Dr. Ware teaches Applied Voice, Contemporary Music History and Introduction to Opera at Luther. 

Dr. Ware made her European debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Operafestival di Roma.  Other opera roles include: Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Mrs. Fiorentino in Street Scene and Anne Page in the Merry Wives of Windsor.  Her concert works include Bach’s Cantata 140, Cantata 90 and Magnificat, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri.  Dr. Ware has appeared with the New Music Ensemble at the University of Minnesota singing pieces by Miriam Gideon, Lloyd Ultan and Arnold Schoenberg.  An advocate of new music, Dr. Ware has collaborations planned for new works with composers in Oklahoma and Iowa.  Dr. Ware has appeared on the Minnesota Public Radio the program, “Classical Music with Allison Young." 

In addition to her teaching at Luther College, Dr. Ware has also served as an Instructor of Voice Lessons and Vocal Performance Class for the Junior and Senior High Dorian Vocal Festivals in 2010 and 2011.  While attending the University of Minnesota, Dr. Ware served as the supervisor of the Vocal Teaching Assistants, authored the “Vocal TA Handbook” and also taught multiple sections of Voice Class.  Dr. Ware has also taught private voice lessons at Stillwater Area High School in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Dr. Ware’s research interests have led her to conduct a major survey of vocal pedagogues to assess the current use of science and imagery in the voice studio.   She  has presented her findings in a poster at the CMS National Convention in 2010.  Additionally, Dr. Ware presented her paper entitled “How are we Communicating?  The Use of Science and Imagery in the Voice Studio in the USA and Canada” at the CMS Great Lakes Regional Conference in April, 2011, at the Voice Foundation’s 40th Annual Symposium in June, 2011, as well as at the Phenomenon of Singing Symposium held in Newfoundland, Canada in July, 2011.  Dr. Ware is currently undergoing training to become a certified Andover Educator in order to provide her students with accurate information about the body in movement with the goal of facilitating safe, efficient and expressive music making.  Dr. Ware’s writings can be found in the Classical Singer Magazine covering topics from “Insurance for the Music Teacher” to “Transferring: A Guide for the Music Major."
