Ron Fox, Professor Emeritus, received his DMN and MM from Indiana University, where he also won the Brass Concerto competition in 1980, playing the “Concerto for Trumpet” by Henri Tomas. He received his BME degree from the University of Evansville (IN) in 1965. Prior to teaching at Luther, he was an Assistant Professor of Music at Baylor University, Waco, Texas. From 1970–1976, he was Brass instructor at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Dr. Fox has had extensive performing experience. He was principal trumpet in the Evansville Philharmonic from 1960–1965. From 1966–1969, he played 1 st trumpet in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, NY. During the West Point years, he also performed in numerous brass quintet concerts. He was principal trumpet in the Arkansas Symphony, the Waco Symphony, and the Lac Cross (WI) Symphony. Dr. Fox has also performed at the Kenney Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C. the Barbican Center in London and on National Public Radio.
