Brent Dodson, trumpeter and conductor, has been an active teaching artist for over fifteen years. He holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California. He has performed with groups such as the Metropolitan Opera, Charleston Symphony, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and Thornton Jazz Orchestra. As a studio musician, he has performed for numerous television, film, and video game soundtracks, including ABC's Wide World of Sports, A&E's Biography, and PBS's Reading Rainbow.
As a passionate arts educator, Dr. Dodson was teaching on behalf of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, and VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. He has also taught at Santa Monica College. Most recently, he was the Director of Instrumental Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Waldorf College.
Dr. Dodson is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Luther College. His responsibilities include teaching applied trumpet, trumpet methods, chamber music, and directing the Varsity Band. He lives in Decorah, Iowa with his wife, Kindra, and their sons, Kai and Dakota.
