SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
DORIAN VOCAL FESTIVAL
January 10-12, 2015

SATURDAY, JANUARY 10, 2015
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Registration for Chamber Choir – lobby of Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. If the entire group from a school is on Campus at that point, all can register and skip the Sunday registration.

12:30 – 4:00 p.m. – Chamber Choir rehearsal with Allen Hightower - Choir Room in Jenson-Noble.

4:00 – 6:30 p.m. Rehearsal and supper with the Nordic Choir. Supper will be available in the Centennial Union cafeteria. ($9.75)

7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Chamber Choir rehearsal.

9:00 p.m. Chamber Choir hosts take singers to organized activity in the Union, then to the assigned dorms.

11:00 p.m. Students must be in their on-campus housing sites and remain there overnight.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2015
10:00 a.m. – NOON Chamber Choir rehearsal – Choir Room (Jenson-Noble)

NOON – 1:30p.m. - Registration for Vocal Festival for everyone not registered on Saturday - Center for Faith and Life, Balcony Area. Meal tickets for the Cafeteria may be pre-purchased at this time in the main floor lobby of the CFL. They may be purchased for specific meals, but no refunds will be given for unused tickets.
Only directors or parent chaperones go through the registration line. You may register at any time during the registration period, but please arrive early enough to be finished before the 1:30 choir seating time. Name tags for each director and pins for each participant will be given to the director. Signed permission forms for each student must be turned in if not sent in ahead.

1:30 p.m. - Seating of the Festival Choir, Center for Faith and Life auditorium.

2:00 - 4:10 p.m. - The first Festival Choir rehearsal under the direction of Allen Hightower will be held. Promptness and full attendance are requested. Students should put their coats in the designated areas where one enters the main auditorium. Please do the same Monday evening.

4:15 – 5:00 p.m. - WOMEN remain and rehearse their piece with Jennaya Robison.

4:30 - 6:30 p.m. - Supper - Student Union cafeteria: ($9.75) or Marty’s Cyber Café (a la carte sandwiches, etc. until 11:00.)

7:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Concert - Rosemount HS (MN) Concert Choir, Steven Albaugh, conductor. Aurora and Norsemen, the two Luther College first-year choirs, will also perform on this concert. (CFL)

8:45 p.m. - Students get their personal belongings and take them to their assigned housing area.

8:45 p.m. - For directors, a reception will be held at T-Bock’s in downtown Decorah after the Sunday evening concert. Co-sponsored by Kephart’s West Music Center, Inc. and Luther College.

9:00 - 10:45 p.m. - Dance for all in the Luther College Regents Center!

11:00 p.m. - Students report to their assigned housing area. Doors to the residence halls will be locked at this time. Students are expected to be in their assigned housing spaces for the rest of the night.

MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2015
Optional Opportunity: Members of the admissions staff will be available to answer your questions and share information about Luther in the Recital Hall in the CFL….directly behind the Main Hall.

9:00-9:30 – Women 10:00-10:30 - Men

7:00 - 9:00 a.m. - Breakfast: - Student cafeteria ($6.15 – opens at 7:00) and Oneota Market ( a la carte – opens at 7:30)

8:15 - 9:45 a.m. – First rehearsal for ALL Festival Choir for MEN only with Andrew Last. (CFL)

9:00 a.m. - Soloists perform at designated centers. Please be there a few minutes ahead of time so that our compact schedule may run without delay. NOTIFY US AHEAD OF TIME IF THERE IS A CANCELLATION by calling the Dorian Office (563-387-1389).

9:45 - 10:15 a.m. - Second rehearsal for Festival WOMEN only. (CFL)

10:30-10:50 a.m. – Daily chapel at Luther College. All are welcome. (CFL)

11:00 - 12:30 p.m. - Full rehearsal for ALL in Festival Choir. Soloists scheduled during this time should come to rehearsal as soon as they're finished singing. (CFL)

11:00 – NOON – Directors’ Session. (NRH) “Balancing Tonal Colors in the Choral Ensemble: Strategies for Successful Vocal Development” Jennaya Robison will speak on the always-challenging issue facing all directors.

12:30 - 1:30 p.m. - Lunch in the cafeteria ($8.50.) Marty's and the Oneota Market will be open as well for a la carte meals. Remind students they may exit from the CFL by way of the tunnel leading to the Union dining area. Exit door - west hallway - CFL.

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. - Soloists perform at their scheduled time and place.

1:45 - 2:30 p.m. - Final rehearsal for ALL WOMEN of Festival Choir.

2:00 – 3:30 p.m. - Reading Session for directors in the Noble Recital Hall. Dr. William Carroll, formerly choir director at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will present new choral music from the Hinshaw Music catalogue. New music packets will be provided to teachers attending.

2:30 - 3:00 p.m. - Final rehearsal for ALL MEN of Festival Choir.

3:00 - 4:30 p.m. - Final Festival Chorus Rehearsal in the CFL.

3:45 – Announcement of semi-finalists for contest soloists.

4:30 p.m. – Recalls for semi-finalists. Students heard in mini-lessons and nominated for consideration as concert soloists will sing again in front of a faculty panel for final selection. (CFL Recital Hall)

5:00 p.m. - Directors' Banquet - Peace Dining Room ($10.00). There will be no banquet for students. Supper is also available in the cafeteria ($9.75) or in Marty’s Café for a la carte meals. If you eat off campus, you are apt to be late for the concert!

7:00 p.m. - GRAND CONCERT by the Dorian Festival Choir, outstanding soloists, Chamber Choir and the Luther College Nordic Choir. (CFL) Concert
