Saturday, February 9th

10:00-10:30  Registration for chamber group participants in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

10:30-12:00  Chamber Group Rehearsals in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

12:00-1:15  Lunch: Student Cafeteria ($9.95). Oneota Market and Marty's Cyber Café will be open. (All located in Student Union adjacent to CFL)

1:15-2:45  Chamber Group Rehearsals in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

2:45-3:00  Break

3:00-5:00  Chamber Group Rehearsals in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music

5:00  Dinner: Meals are available in the Cafeteria ($11.00) or Marty’s Cyber Café. Off-campus venues are also available.

7:30  Faculty Artist Series Recital: Spencer Martin and Nicholas Shaneyfelt, Viola and Piano. Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

11:00  Students must be in their on-campus housing sites and remain there overnight. Doors to the residence halls will be locked at this time. Drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of any illegal substances will not be tolerated.

Sunday, February 10th

9:00-11:00  Chamber Group Rehearsals in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

10:00-11:15 Masterclass for all Chamber Groups. Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

11:00-12:30  Registration for Dorian Orchestra Festival in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Check in, turn in release forms for each of your students, and pay any fees due. Collect housing assignments at the housing table.

11:00-12:30  Dorian Chamber Orchestra Seat Placement Auditions. Sites in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music to be announced. Upon arrival, students should register and audition as soon as possible so that all auditions can be finished by 12:30.

12:30-2:45  First Rehearsals: Chamber Orchestra with Mr. Scott Hosfeld in the Orchestra Room, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Festival String Orchestra with Dr. Daniel Baldwin in the Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life (CFL). Breaks will be given at conductors' discretion.

1:00-2:00 Directors’ Sharing Session. Visiting directors are encouraged to meet in the lounge next to the Orchestra Room in Jenson to get acquainted, to share ideas and music and solutions to common problems. Please bring along 5-6 scores of music that have worked well for you, and that you would like to suggest to your colleagues.

1:00-2:30  Solo Lessons with members of the Luther Music Faculty in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.  Please be outside your scheduled studio five minutes early, and please bring music for your teacher. (Students scheduled for lessons should leave and rejoin rehearsals quietly.)

2:45-4:15 Dorian Chamber Group Dress Rehearsals only for chamber group participants (Noble Recital Hall)

3:00-3:45 Techniques Classes I. Class sessions led by Luther violin, viola, cello and bass faculty members, dealing with issues specific to each instrument or string section. The classes are required for festival participants. Directors are strongly encouraged to attend.

4:30 Dorian Chamber Ensemble Intensive Recital. All festival participants are required to attend this recital. (Noble Recital Hall)

5:30-7:00 Dinner: Meals are available in the Cafeteria ($11.00) or Marty’s Cyber Café. Off-campus venues are also available.

7:00 Concert: Luther College Symphony Orchestra (Center for Faith and Life)

Following concert – students staying on campus meet their Luther hosts in the CFL Lobby to move into their dorm rooms.

Monday, February 11th

7:00-8:15  Breakfast: Student Cafeteria ($7.20)

8:30-10:00  Rehearsals: Festival String Orchestra will rehearse in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life (CFL). Chamber Orchestra will continue in the Orchestra Room in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

8:30-10:00  Solo Lessons with members of the Luther Music Faculty in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Please be outside your scheduled studio five minutes early, and please bring music for your teacher.

10:20-10:55  Techniques Classes II. Second sessions led by Luther violin, viola, cello and bass faculty members. Topics will be different from the Sunday sessions.  The classes are required for students. Directors are strongly encouraged to attend.

2:00-3:30  West Music will present a session for directors titled “Orchestra Gear: Strings!”  In this session, we will explore how strings are constructed, why their materials matter, and have the opportunity to listen and play on different sets of strings from major brands. (Recital Hall, CFL - behind the main hall)

4:30-5:15  Final Rehearsal: Chamber Orchestra in the Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life.

5:00-6:30  Dinner: Student Cafeteria ($11.00) and Marty's Cyber Café will be open.

6:15-6:45  Concert Soloists’ Rehearsal:  Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life.

7:00-8:30  Festival Grand Concert:  Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life.  Free admission.   Concert apparel: All black OR black bottoms with a white top.
