Pre-concert discussion for Handel's 'Messiah' March 27

James Griesheimer, Luther College associate professor of music, will host a pre-concert discussion about Handel's "Messiah" at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 in the Mott Room of Luther's Dahl Centennial Union. The discussion, held prior to the 7:30 p.m. "Messiah" performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Luther Piano Quartet to present recital March 31

The Luther College Piano Quartet will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus.

The program is open to the public with no charge for admission.

The program opens with Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor, followed by Antonin Dvorak's Miniatures for String Trio, and concludes with Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-flat major.

Luther Music Department presents Handel's 'Messiah'

The Luther College Music Department will present Handel's "Messiah" as the Spring 2015 oratorio performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27. The performance will take place in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.

            Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults and $10 for students, and can be purchased at Luther's ticket website, www.tickets.luther.edu, by calling the Ticket Office at (563) 387-1357, or by visiting the Luther Ticket Office, open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11a.m.-3 p.m.; and Tuesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Luther's Composition Colloquium, featuring composer Mike D'Ambrosio, will take place at noon Sunday, March 8, in the Choir Room of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. THIS RECITAL HAS BEEN POSTPONED, new date and time TBA.

Jonathon Struve, Luther College adjunct faculty in music, will perform a baritone recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Noble Recital Hall on Luther's campus. The recital is open to the public with no charge for admission and explores themes of love, infatuation, spirituality, the fantastic and the mundane, with texts by Leconte de Lisle, Paul Verlaine, Eduard Morike, Walt Whitman and Lewis Carroll, among others.
