The Dorian Choral Retreat, in its inaugural year, will be hosted this summer at Luther College from June 29 through July 1.
This event, available to anyone interested who is at least 19 years of age, has a fee of $100 with no on-campus housing over the retreat, or $150 for a single, air-conditioned room Friday and Saturday night on campus. A $10 discount is offered to people who are coming with a roommate. Registration for the event is now open.
The Dorian Choral Retreat is designed for Luther alumni, music educators, church musicians, career musicians and folks who just love singing. The goal of the weekend is to be a musical retreat, a way to recharge batteries, an opportunity to take a break from everyday life, and a time to explore Decorah and Luther College.
The retreat will be led by Luther College choral faculty, including Director of Choral Activities Andrew Last. Last is part of a vibrant choral program at Luther that includes four choral faculty, nearly 600 singers, six choral ensembles, numerous regional and national American Choral Directors Association convention performances, and an annual presentation of the nationally broadcast Christmas at Luther performances.
