Faculty Artist Series: Kylie Toomer, Voice

Ms. Toomer received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas, and her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Luther College, where she also teaches applied voice, Class Voice, and Introduction to Opera. As an advocate for Czech and Slovak opera and art song, Ms. Toomer has performed across the globe, most recently in Náměšt’ nad Oslavou, Czech Republic, and with the National Czech and Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 2011, Ms. Toomer won the American semifinals of the Czech and Slovak International Voice Competition, and went on to compete in the international finals in Montreal, Quebec. She competed in the competition again in 2013, where she was a National Semi-Finalist and Encouragement Award Recipient. In addition to her teaching at Luther College, Ms. Toomer has also served as an Instructor of Voice Lessons and Vocal Performance Class for the Junior High Dorian Vocal Festival, and directed the Musical Theatre Workshop for the Senior High Dorian Vocal Festival.
