The 2014-2015 Richard C. and Joann M. Hemp Prize for Orchestral Performance recital will be given by Stephanie Diebel on French horn at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus.
Stephanie is the first recipient of Luther College’s annual Richard C. and Joann M. Hemp Prize for Orchestral Performance. The prize, a $5,000 scholarship award, is funded through an endowment established by Richard ’64 and Joann (Harr) Hemp ’65 of Reno, Nevada, and Decorah, Iowa. Awarded annually to a senior in the Luther College Symphony Orchestra, selection is by audition and recognizes exceptional performance, talent, musicianship, and leadership. Mr. Hemp is a regent emeritus, former chair of the Luther Board of Regents, and former Interim President of Luther College.
The Hemp Prize is one of the largest awards given for excellence in music at Luther College.
