Varsity Band Concert

The Luther College Varsity Band will perform Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life main hall.

The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission. 

Directed by Frederick Nyline, Luther professor of music, the program includes "Garrison Commander" by Dwayne Milburn, "The Light Eternal" by James Swearingen, "The King of Love My Shepherd" arranged by Jess Turner, "Amparito Roca" by Aubrey Winter, scenes from "The Louvre" by Norman Dello Joio and "Original Dixieland Concerto" by John Warrington, featuring Luther junior Tyler Stevenson, trumpet; and Luther sophomores Alex Byom, alto saxophone; Maddie Ford, clarinet; and Andrew St. Martin, trombone.

Varsity Band will also perform variations on "A Mighty Fortress" by Ryan Main and "The Klaxon March" by Henry Fillmore.

Varsity Band, with approximately 100 student performers, appears at a variety of events throughout the year, including chapel services, Family Weekend events, the Dorian Band Festival and its own formal concert each semester.
