The Luther College Jazz Band, directed by Jon Ailabouni, will perform a concert on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on Luther campus. The concert will include works by Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Sammy Nestico, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Kris Berg, Mike Crotty, and Bob Brookmeyer. This performance will feature intricate big band arrangements from a wide variety of styles and eras, while highlighting the individual voices of the band members through solos and improvisations.

This concert will also feature performances by the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the Luther College Jazz Quartet, and the Oneota Jazz Quartet. These small groups present a different perspective on the jazz tradition and exemplify one of the many vibrant aspects of jazz at Luther. Vocal Jazz will join forces with the Jazz Band to present "If I Could Write A Book". A jazz standard written by Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers and arranged by the New York Voices' Darmon Meader.
