John Cord, Luther College assistant professor of music, will present trumpet recital at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther College campus.
The recital is open to the public with no charge for admission.
The program consists of works by William Latham, Giuseppe Torelli, Joaquin Rodrigo and Kevin McKee. Cord will also premiere "Homage" by Mike D'Ambrosio, a piece commissioned by the Luther College Trumpet Studio in honor of 1943 Luther graduate, Adolf "Bud" Herseth. Herseth is recognized as the greatest orchestral trumpeter in American history, having served as the principle trumpeter for the Chicago Symphony orchestra for more than 50 years. "Homage", performed by the Luther College Trumpet Ensemble, will be introduced by the composer himself with a brief synopsis of the piece and its development .
