Heidi Brende Leathwood, guest pianist, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.
The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.
Brende Leathwood will be performing Sonata in A Major, Sonata in G Major and Sonata in D Minor by Domenico Scarlatti, Sonata Op. 31 No. 1 and Sonata Op. 109 by Beethoven, and Piano Sonata No. 1 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.
Leathwood, a Decorah native, has performed with members of the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Colorado Symphony. She has appeared across the United States playing concertos as well as solo and chamber recitals. Her CDs, "SmartSleep with Classical" and "SmartPlay with Classical," have received airplay on classical stations nationwide including Public Radio International. Her recording of the first movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata aired on "So You Think You Can Dance."
Leathwood's major teachers were John Perry, Joseph Schwartz and John Strauss, Luther professor of music.
