Featuring a repertoire of Baroque and Renaissance compositions, Luther College Collegium Musicum will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11th, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus.
The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.
The ensemble begins their performance with Baroque music for soloist and basso continuo, including a sonata for three viols by Antoine Forqueray, a sonata for oboe by George Friederich Handel, a sonata for cello by Benedetto Marcello and a sonata for flute by J.S. Bach.
The second portion of the program includes music by the Franco-Flemish Renaissance Composer Josquin des Prez. Luther students and Decorah community members will perform music for recorder and viol ensemble, as well as movements of des Prez' choral work, "Misse Pange Lingua." The music of des Prez is featured on the concert in honor of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, as des Prez is considered one of the favorite composers of Martin Luther.
Collegium Musicum is directed by Kathryn Reed, Luther instructor in music.
