Concert Band Concert

The Luther College Concert Band, under the direction of Joan deAlbuquerque, will present a concert at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9th, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther campus.

The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission and will be live streamed.

The band will perform "Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone" by Andre Waignein, featuring Luther saxophone professor Lynne Hart, "Wild Nights!" by Frank Ticheli, Leonard Bernstein's "Candide Suite" arranged by Clare Grundman and "Tour de Force" by Robert Jager.

The Luther College Concert Band, founded in 1878, is one of the oldest touring organizations in the nation and among the country's most outstanding college bands. Luther's Concert Band has toured throughout the United States, Western Europe and Japan, and has appeared at many state and national music conferences.

Joan deAlbuquerque, director of bands and associate professor of music, joined the Luther faculty in 2011. She holds a bachelor of music education degree from Michigan State University, a master's degree in wind conducting from Michigan State University, and a doctor of musical arts degree in wind conducting from the University of North Texas.
