Lydia and Andrea perform at Vesterheim

Lydia and Andrea perform energetic traditional Nordic music on fiddle, 5-string fiddle, nyckelharpa, and voice on Monday, Oct 27, 2014 at 7:30pm at Vesterheim's Bethania Church, 113 N Mill Street, Decorah, Iowa.

Doors open at 7pm, $12 at the door, Luther students get in free with student ID.

With her recently awarded Fulbright, she discusses the opportunity to immerse herself in a part of the world that is unknown to many.

Shattered Dreams

Virginia Gibbs and Luz Maria Hernandez to present 'Shattered Dreams' at Luther

A new book by two former Luther College faculty members details the story of the April 2008 immigration raid of a meat packing plant in Postville, Iowa, from the viewpoint of the undocumented workers. Authors Virginia Gibbs and Luz Maria Hernandez will read from their book, "Shattered Dreams: The Story of a Historic ICE Raid in the Words of the Detainees," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in the F.W. Olin Building, Room 102, on the Luther College campus. A reception will follow.
