Spring Break Mission Trips
Each year Luther College Ministries sponsors both domestic and international service trips. Domestically, we work in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, and internationally we seek to partner with local faith communities or organizations.
Our goal on mission trips is to share and learn from those we serve, sharing in partnership in each others' culture and experiences. Our trips are led by a partnership between student leaders and faculty/staff advisors.
Building on a long-term relationship with local communities, 2014 Mission Guatemala will serve in partnership with Ventanas Abiertas (Open Windows Foundation, a locally based, grass-roots organization focused on improving educational opportunities for children). Both in preparation for the trip and during the time in Guatemala, the group will engage in conversation about the culture, context, and history of Guatemala, its connections to the United States, and specifically to our area's large Guatemalan community in neighboring Postville, Iowa. For details and to register click here. Final costs will depend on cost of flights, but the current estimate is between about $1,200 and $1,400, including a $100 deposit due by October 4, 2013. Space is limited to the first 24 deposited students.
