Previously, he was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Metropolitan Community College in Omaha.
He has received several art and teaching awards and fellowships. Much of his academic research focuses on the historic interactions between the arts, literature, mathematics and science. He is a frequent participant and presenter at national and international conferences on contemporary art. His writing has been published in a wide variety of academic journals including Sports and History published by the International Center for Sports History and Culture and Leonardo published by MIT Press Journals and the European Society for the History of Science.
