This spring, the college is hosting 18 events throughout the country to celebrate the success of the Sesquicentennial Fund and to honor the Torgerson presidency. Groups of alumni, family, and friends have gathered from coast to coast for these festive celebrations.
The Sesquicentennial Fund, a five-year $50 million funding initiative, concluded on December 31, 2012, with more than $57 million in outright support, pledges, and deferred gifts. Achieving and exceeding a $50 million goal during a period of great economic uncertainty was no small task. Yet thanks to the steadfast and generous support of Luther’s regents, alumni, parents, and friends, the college surpassed its overall goal for key institutional priorities. This funding initiative concentrated on outright support and focused largely on endowment.
