Whitewater Regional champions Luther College (32-9) will play Angola Regional champions Anderson University (30-16) in the opening round of the NCAA III Women's Softball Championship at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is hosting this year's championship at Carson Park, located in Eau Claire, Wis., May 17-21.

Evan Obert, a Luther College sophomore from Genoa, Wis., has been awarded the Karen Julesberg Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year.

The Luther College Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther campus. The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.

The Luther College Book Shop will host a signing session with Luther graduate and author C.J. Boerger for his book "Chasing a Dream" from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Luther College Book Shop in the Dahl Centennial Union.

Evan Mitchell, a Luther college junior from Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, has been named the recipient of the 2013-14 Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos Prize for Opera Performance at Luther College. Mitchell will present the Brudos Family Opera Prize recital during the 2013-14 academic year.

The unique and varied works of graduating Luther College art majors will be on display May 7-19 in the Kristen Wigley-Fleming Gallery in the Center for the Arts building on the Luther campus.

Luther College will celebrate Commencement at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 19, indoors in the Regents Center Main Gym. The ceremony is a ticketed event. Four tickets per graduate will be valid. Other attendees are invited to view the ceremony via large-screen, closed-circuit television in the Center for Faith and Life.
