Teaching Philosophy
Being creative leads to making art. What art is, is very objective. However, we can all agree that some solutions are more successful than others. Three-dimensional art is about the object and materials. It is the end result of an idea becoming real. Creating a three-dimensional art object involves real materials and real physical effort. It is about producing an object that may have no function other than to express a concept, an emotion, or a feeling. Each individual may interpret what art is and what art means differently. Practicing art, making art, talking about art, if only for one class is more than most people will experience in a lifetime. It is my intention as an instructor to help students discover the joy of making an object that inspires and offers a glimpse of what art is about. An individual, who can think like an artist and create from imagination, will begin to develop the ability of critical thinking and creative problem solving. The quality of one’s life will always be fuller and richer in many ways, when art becomes important. My goal is to share the beauty and awesomeness of a world with art in it.
