Lea Donhowe Lovelace
Lea Donhowe Lovelace holds a bachelor's degree from Luther College and a master's degree in art education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lovelace previously served as visiting faculty at Saint Mary's University, teaching assistant at the School of Art Institute of Chicago, and program director and instructor at the community-based arts organization Art Factory in Augusta, GA. From 1999-2003, she served as the manager of school programs at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. From 2005-07, she was an independent contractor and consultant for the museum, training teaching artists on exhibitions and collections, developing educational curricula and teacher programs, and overseeing artist residencies in Chicago public high schools.
In 2007, upon moving back to Decorah, Lovelace founded Little Masters Art Studio offering hands-on quality visual arts programming for elementary aged youth. In 2008 Lovelace co-founded ArtHaus, Decorah's center for visual, performing and literary arts offering programming for all ages, with business partner and founder of Upstart Crow Theatreworks, Kristen Underwood. As current co-director of ArtHaus, Lovelace oversees all visual arts programming including classes and workshops for youth and adults as well as bi-monthly art exhibitions featuring regional visual artists.
