A Hop, Skip, and a Jump Across the Pond

Luther's Nottingham Program, which will be in its 46th year in 2017-2018, offers the rich opportunity to spend an academic year in England and study at the University of Nottingham. During this program, students live together, take courses together, and participate in a community service project of their choosing. To learn more about the program, visit the Nottingham Year website.

It’s hard to believe it’s almost time to embark on our English adventure! We’re your bloggers, Libby Morton and Kelli Emerson, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you. Before we start filling you in on all our adventures, here’s a little bit about us.

My name is Kelli Emerson, and I’m one of your bloggers for the Nottingham Academic Year! I’m an English major and Linguistics minor. At Luther I enjoy participating in SAC Concerts and NASA (Norse Against Sexual Assault) and working for the Campus Programming Department. I’m excited to learn about English literature in its homeland, experience English university life, and get to know my new flatmates better! I got my toes wet with English culture last January by going on the Tolkien and Lewis in Context J-Term, and I can’t wait to get back to England!

My name is Libby Morton, and I will be one of your travel guides for the year! I am a Junior pursuing a Political Science major and Philosophy minor. At Luther, I am involved with Mock Trial and music. I am originally from Princeton, Minnesota. At home, I have two sisters, one brother-in-law, and two cats!  I have never been across the pond before, but I am looking forward to exploring the U.K. and hopefully most of Europe. I am looking forward to immersing myself in British culture and getting to know the great group of people with which I get to experience this adventure!

Make sure to stay tuned for updates from us as we arrive in Nottingham, set out on our first group trips, and start classes at uni! We’ll make sure to keep you updated.

Signing off,

Libby and Kelli
