Library Sump Pump - The alarm in the elevator shaft in Preus Library has been going off. Eddy will check with Facilities to learn whether or not the sump pump has been fixed.
Digital Media Center Open House - All faculty, staff, and students are invited to the Tuesday, March 18, 3-5 p.m. Open House to be held in the lower level of Preus Library.
Multimedia Specialist Search - We have invited candidates to on-campus interviews which will be held over the next couple of weeks.
LIS Council Notes - We discussed the LIS Council notes, reminding team members that reports provided on behalf of User Services are available to User Services team members via Norse Docs. Questions regarding the notes are welcome.
GoPrint Notifications - A new function has been created to notify students when their GoPrint quotas are low. We want students to have time to get to financial services to add money to their NordiCash accounts if they are running out (under $2, under $1, and at $0) and have critical printing needs coming up. Notification of low balances in student GoPrint quotas is live to LIS only at this point. Once final testing is complete, it will be live to the student population.
Printers - We have had reports of delayed printing in the Valders 240 lab. As part of the research into this issue, the printers in Valders 240 and JN 124 were swapped. We encourage students to contact the LIS Technology Help Desk with printing concerns.
Password Resets - To enhance security, we will ask students and others who call for a password reset to verify all their pieces of information that display on the screen rather than just one or two items. In addition, we are contacting all faculty, staff, and students who have not yet set their security questions to please do so. In this way, they will be able to use the "Forgot My Norse Key" option to reset their passwords themselves.
Lynda.com - Our trial of lynda.com expires March 18. We shared feedback regarding the software.
Security Cameras - The camera installation is starting this week and the installers will be on campus all week. Once the cameras are up, work will begin on the server.
KATIE Polling - Jennifer R shared that she had demoed the new ipal (KATIE Polling) function to the biology department this afternoon.
LIS Service and Systems Notice - In an effort to concisely convey important service and system updates, LIS publishes a list of notices each semester for the Luther community. This message was just provided to Campus News and will be sent to the campus community this week.
