User Services Meeting - 5/5/14

Present: Erin, Matt B, Bob E, Larry, Matt H, Matt H, Eddy, Ryan, Jennifer R, Ben, Adam, Diane

Dash Demo - Ben joined us to demonstrate a Mac program that he uses to easily create work orders from email messages. This could be helpful for other LIS technicians. Matt will research Windows solutions.

Olin Planning - We discussed the timeline for the painting and re-carpeting that will be happening in Olin this summer and LIS involvement in moving technology out of the way as needed. More conversations and planning will occur.

Lab Printer Replacements - We have requested a quote from Ricoh to replace the HP printers in the labs and classrooms that are not currently double-sided printers. The goal will be to install these printers this summer. In addition, we have submitted a request to replace the Dells in the labs and classrooms with double-sided Ricoh supported printers.

Archiving of Work Orders - In order to improve the performance of our work order system, we are considering archiving old, completed work orders as well as changing the queue refresh rate. Discussions are underway within LIS regarding the best method and timing of the archiving.

Student Research Symposium - Several LIS student workers will be presenting in this week's Student Research Symposium. LIS team members are encouraged to review the schedule and attend sessions as they are able.

ROAD - Saturday's ROAD (Registration, Orientation, and Advising Day) was a successful event with 108 families participating. Upcoming ROAD events are scheduled for June 9, 16, and 23.
