User Services Meeting - 5/18/15

The User Services team meets twice each month. At this week's meeting, we discussed the following: Active Directory, Print Management, Campus Carillon, Power Settings for Checkout Laptops, Laptops for Student Checkout, Elevator, Finals Week Study Breaks, and Operating Systems.

Wireless Network Trouble

Update 7:30PM:  All wireless access points are back online. We are still experiencing some areas of the network, particularily 2nd floor of the east wing of Valders where devices are having trouble connecting to the network.    Using the LCGuest network can provide a work around for many activities in these areas.  I am still in search of a proper solution to this problem.

 

4:00PM: We are currently having trouble with about half of our wireless network. which areas work and which don't follows a somewhat random pattern. I am currently working with tech support to find a resolution asap.

KATIE Upgrade and sandbox: Summer 2015

August 2015 KATIE will be upgraded to version 2.8. To prepare for these changes, we have created a test environment called KATIE sandbox (sandbox.luther.edu) where you can log in to a KATIE system running on 2.8. You can also request one of your current courses be imported into the sandbox by contacting the LIS Technology Help Desk. Updated: New LCGuest Rollout Continues

5/22/15:  The new LCGuest network is now active in Towers and Baker Village.

5/12/15: This morning the rollout of our new LCGuest network has continued. The new LCGuest network is now active in Brandt, CFA,CFL Facilities, Heating Plant, Storre Theatre, Ockham House, Jenson, Koren, Larsen, Loyalty, Olin, Regents Center, Sampson Hoffland, Valders, Union, Ylvisaker, Farwell, and Olson.

The LIS Technology Help Desk has been informed of the following phishing email being sent out. That email is a phishing scam. It is not from the Help Desk or anyone in LIS.

If you have responded, please change your password immediately at http://norsekey.luther.edu. If you have not responded, simply Delete the message. We are taking steps to block further messages.

For future reference, LIS and the LIS Technology Help Desk will never ask for private information or passwords via email. Any questions or concerns can be directed to x1000 or online at help.luther.edu.
