Professional Positions

Instructional Design Librarian and Visiting Assistant Professor in Library and Information Studies
This appointment is a one-year, non-tenure track replacement position, with possibility of renewal for up to a term of three years.  Full-time, 10-month position beginning late August 2014.  Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.

Technical Services Assistant
The primary responsibility of the Technical Services Assistant is to manage the daily work of ordering, processing and maintaining the print and electronic serial and periodical collections of Preus Library, including holdings information in the library catalog (WorldCat). Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.

Student Summer Employment Positions

LIS has several opportunities for Luther students seeking summer employment. Complete an application by Monday, March 3, at https://www.luther.edu/hr/summer-employment/

  • Network and Systems--Ability to work with power and hand tools. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Experience with installation of data enabling and Computer Science skills preferred. Part-time.
  • Software Development—Computer Science course work. Computer Science major or minor preferred. Preference given to applicants with programming knowledge in Linux, Apache, php, mySql, JavaScript. Ability to work independently on programming assignments. Full-time.
  • Technical Services-Library—Computer confident, previous library experience preferred.  Full-time.
  • Multimedia—Comfortable with multimedia related technology. Preference given to 1st years and sophomores. Full-time.
  • Technology Help Desk--Prior LIS Technology Help Desk employment and extensive computer troubleshooting experience required. Full-time.
  • Workstation Support—Computer skills preferred. Some lifting required. Full-time.
  • Library Circulation—Familiarity with library classification systems preferred. Full-time.

Student Employment Positions

  • The Circulation Desk hires for positions starting in Fall Semester.
