Telephone Procedures

  • Answer the phone “Luther College Library, Circulation Desk.”
  • If you need to transfer a call, tell the person the number you will be transferring them to (refer to library/ITS staff listing on table or college directory in desk area of circulation counter if necessary); press the button below the word “Conf” on the screen; dial the number; tell the person answering that you are transferring a call; press the button below the word “Connect” on the screen and say “Go ahead,” then hang up.
  • If the person you are transferring a call to does not answer, wait until their voice mail picks up, then quickly press the button below the word “Connect” on the screen so that the person calling can hear the voice mail greeting and leave a message, then hang up.
