Signature Book: Anatomical Dialogues

A rare book entitled Anatomical Dialogues, published in London in 1792, was donated to the library in October 2009 by Luther alumnus David Olsen, ’63. The title page of the book says it was intended for young practitioners so they could “attain a right method of treating diseases.”

It is the third edition of this particular text which was compiled ”for the use of the young gentlemen in the navy and army.” With Olsen’s approval, the book is considered our signature book marking the 40th anniversary of the library. This fact has been added to the catalog record (QM21 .A4 1792) which indicates that the book is shelved in the Rare Book Room.
