An End to Flying and the Beginning of a Journey

After a five hour bus ride and two eight hour flights, we have finally made it to Tanzania. We have come a long ways from home, but our journey is just beginning.

We were met at the airport by Aziz, our driver, Mwalimu (teacher) Steven Ndosi, and our guides Musa and Leboy. They presented us with bouquets of flowers and cake to celebrate Prof. Lori Stanley's birthday!

First order of business after clearing Kilimanjaro Airport was to go to our rooms in Vijiji Center and fall asleep (if we can, between the confusion of time zones and the excitement of what awaits us in the morning).

We begin early tomorrow morning with breakfast at 7 and our first session with Mwalimu Steven Ndosi at 8. We will spend a couple days in Arusha recovering from jetlag and getting our feet under us before we head out to our first boma (village) stay.

We will let you know when we are on the move again, but for now we are all headed to bed for some much needed rest.
