Safe travels for the Holden Village group

We have arrived safe and sound in Chelan, Washington!

Our journey began bright and early this morning, gathering at 4:45am at the Minneapolis airport only to find our flight had been delayed 2 hrs. After napping, massive coffee consumption, and a few card games, we boarded and had a safe flight to Seattle. There was a small luggage mix-up, but eventually it was all recovered and we boarded a bus to Chelan.

Roy, our bus driver, did an excellent job of navigating the snowy mountain passes. We stopped only once to put chains on the tires, and in spite of heavy snow, the drive went smoothly. We kept busy by napping and playing lots of cards. Our drive also provided beautiful views of the Washington landscape as we passed snow-capped trees, orchards, the Colombia River, and the Cascade mountains. After arriving at our hotel, we walked into downtown Chelan for dinner at D.C. MacDonald's and had some delicious burgers and seafood.

Our journey continues tomorrow morning with a ferry ride down the 50 mile long Lake Chelan, and then a bus ride into the mountains to Holden Village. We are all tired from travel but safe, and looking forward to reaching our final destination!
