Under da Sea

We woke up this morning to have breakfast down at the beach at eight. After a buffet-style of eggs, beans and bread rolls, we lounged around the beach until Boeke and Eichinger came to our resort to relay the plan for the day.

After getting everyone outfitted with snorkel gear, we headed out to the end of the pier to try it out. It was a new experience for many of us and it was wonderful to see the wonder and excitement for those who had never snorkeled before. While in the water for only a short time, we were able to see a multitude of organisims. Among the most notable were starfish, stingrays, barracuda, crabs, and lobsters. It is crazy to imagine that this is such a small portion of what we will see while on the reef tomorrow!

A cushion starfish was discovered on our first outing!
One of many iguanas spotted hanging out around Ak'bol.
A small yellow stingray was hanging out near the Ak'bol pier.
