Location: Luther College, Decorah, Iowa

Thursday, July 18

Registration--Valders Hall of Science concourse (5:00-9:00 p.m.)

Exhibitors/Vendors may be set up during this registration time

Dinner on your own

Luther Natural Areas Hikes --7:00 p.m. A walking tour of the Luther College natural areas including forests, reconstructed prairies, and the Upper Iowa River. Led by Molly McNicoll, Luther College Natural Areas Land Manager and Natural Areas Land Management Interns.

Friday, July 19

Morning--poster session and concurrent 45 minute talks (topics)

7:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.--Registration in the Valders Hall of Science concourse, along with poster presentations, exhibits, and vendors

7:00-8:30 a.m.--Continental breakfast, included with registration

8:30-9:15 a.m.--Concurrent talks

9:15-10:00 a.m.--Concurrent talks

10:00-10:30 a.m.--Break, refreshments included with registration

10:30-11:15 a.m.--Concurrent talks

11:15 a.m.-12 noon--Concurrent talks

Lunch (Noon- 1 p.m.)--included with registration

Afternoon Field Trip Options (1:00-5:00 p.m.)

  • Option 1: Chipera Prairie (Winneshiek County Conservation Board)
  • Option 2: Prairie Song Farm (Dr. Mike Osterholm)
  • Option 3: on your own, e.g., Decorah's Trout Run Trail (bring your bike!)

Evening

5:30-6:30 pm - Exhibitor/vendor/poster presentation session

7:00 p.m.--Banquet with program and awards and plenary speaker in Peace Dining Room, followed by social time with music provided by Decorah's Bread and Butter String Band and open cash bar.

Saturday, July 20

7:00-7:45 a.m.--Continental Breakfast, included with registration

7:45 a. m.--Load buses

8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.--all day field trip to hill prairie sites in Allamakee County, including visits to Sand Cove, Heritage Valley, and the Mile Long/Solitaire Ridge Prairie. Registration includes a sack lunch, water, and snacks. Buses will return to Decorah by 5 p.m.

The Iowa Prairie Conference concludes at the end of the Saturday field trips. Supper is not provided.
