William “Bill” Tjaden, 81, of Denver, Iowa, died Oct. 15, at Denver Sunset Home in Denver.
He was born July 16, 1936, in Charles City, son of Bernard Jacob and Amy Esther Boekemeier Tjaden. He married Caryl Sigler on Aug. 10, 1958, at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd.
He attended Cedar Township #4 Towner School and graduated from Floyd Consolidated High School in 1955. He continued his education at Luther College and graduated from there in 1959. Bill taught school at the Denver Community School district from 1959 until retiring in May of 1995. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver, ISEA, NEA, DEA, Denver Lions Club, Cub Scout Comm. and Northeast Iowa Woodcarvers. He enjoyed woodcarving, camping, genealogy, model airplanes and the Black Hawk RC Pilots.
Survived by: his wife of Denver; four sons, Brett (Jennifer) Tjaden of Cedar Falls, Mark (Brenda) Tjaden of Urbana, Kent (Koby) Tjaden of Hudson and Kevin Tjaden of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Linda) Tjaden of Clear Lake; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Melodee White and JD Miller of Floyd.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and two nephews, Tim Tjaden and Kurt Leach.
Services were Oct. 18, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with burial in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, both in Denver. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com
