In an effort to embrace the vibrant community of small, local producers in the Decorah area, Luther is committed to serving a variety of local foods on campus. This trip provides participants the opportunity to meet the faces and places behind the food they will consume during their next four years on campus. The group will spend time on the farms that supply Luther with everything from breakfast bacon to salad-bar broccoli. This trip is an exciting way to become more acquainted with not only the food served at Luther but also with the Decorah area.

Participants of this trip can expect such activities as:

• Picking apples and pressing apple cider
• Touring Seed Savers Exchange
• Taking a cooking class at the Oneota Food Coop
• Canoeing the Upper Iowa River
• Gardening at the Luther College Farm
• Preparing a meal for the student cooking challenge
• Shopping at the Winneshiek County Farmer's Market
• Picnicking in Decorah parks
• Visiting local farms
