Immersion Program

The New Student Immersion orientation experiences are designed to give in-coming Luther students the opportunity to build community while engaging in the natural world through experiential learning and outdoor adventure. Trips foster personal development and ease the transition to college life. Each group will be led by two current Luther students. A faculty guest will support each trip.

The various trips will take place during the week immediately preceding new student orientation, Saturday, August 19 - Saturday morning, August 26, 2017. Students will have an opportunity to move into their rooms prior to departure for their assigned trip, room key pick up will be from 9 – 11 a.m. There will be a general orientation for students and parents at noon on August 19, with the official start time of the Immersion program beginning at 3 p.m. Students officially leave for their trip on Sunday morning, returning the following Friday. On Saturday morning there is official closing ceremony and gear-return session.
