Anna Peterson to present at SSHA

Assistant Professor Anna Peterson will be traveling to Chicago this week to present a paper at the annual meeting of the Social Science History Association. Her paper is entitled "'Emancipating Pregnancy and Childbirth'?: Feminists, Midwives, Working-Class Women and the Politics of Maternity Homes in Early-Twentieth-Century Norway," and explores the power struggles that ensued over the transition from home births to institutional births. Of particular focus will be the ways in which feminists, midwives and working-class women resisted, encouraged and negotiated the medical management of childbirth.
