Colleague FAQ

This article contains answers to common questions pertaining to Colleague formerly called Datatel. As of 2012, Ellucian is the new name of the company previously called Datatel. Colleague is the software and database system used by Luther College to maintain its database records, such as people, budgets and transcripts, and it comprises much of the backend of My.Luther. Other systems, including the online directory, get their information from Colleague. More information about using Colleague can be found at colleague.luther.edu training.

Q2: How do I subscribe to the Luther College Colleague(Datatel) user group?

  1. Using the email address that you want to recieve the group mail at, send an email to [email protected] (a google group, not a person).
  2. Leave the message body blank.
  3. You will then receive a confirmation or rejection email.

Q3: Is my Colleague password the same as my Norse Key password?

Yes, Colleague and my.luther.edu use your Norse Key username and password. Visit norsekey.luther.edu to change your Norse Key.

Q4: How do I access Ellucian’s support web site?

Client Login Support

Luther employees can self-register at : http://clientapps.ellucian.com/SignUp

If the user was already registered on the previous website, the email address will be matched with an existing email in Ellucian's system.  The employee can then click on the 'Already Registered' link and then click 'Reset My Password'.

Once the user has reset their password, they can go to https://ellucian.okta.com to log in.

Click on Request Apps to request access to the Ellucian Support Center.

To request access to the Support Center, the user can send an email to [email protected] with a Subject line indicating that they are requesting access to the Ellucian Support Center website.  The body of the request should include their First and Last Name and Email Address.

Q5: How do I update my personal information?

  1. Go to my.luther.edu and select Update My Profile to add your emergency contact information, off-campus address, or ethnicity.

Other name and address information:

  1. Students should contact Office for Financial Services at x1015 or email [email protected]
  2. Faculty and Staff should contact Human Resources Office at x1134 or email [email protected]
  3. Alumni and friends should contact the Alumni office at x1524 or email [email protected]

Q6: Can I use Colleague on my mobile device?

Mobile devices are not able to run Silverlight, required for the web user interface. You will need to use Citrix to access Colleague from a mobile device. The web user interface is difficult to navigate on a mobile device and not recommended for data entry.

Contact the Technology Help Desk if you need assistance installing Citrix on your device.

Q7: I ran a report, where is my output?

Check that your browser is set to allow popups. When your report completes, you will be prompted to save your report using the 'Save As' feature.  Choose a network shared drive (recommended) or your local workstation and note the location of the file when you save it.  You can use Windows to find and open the saved file.
