In an endless search for another gravity, Artistic Director Moses Pendleton, combines athletic dance, riveting music, outrageous costumes, inventive props and pure talent of MOMIX to create the entertaining multimedia experience "Botanica."
MOMIX, a radically innovative dance company, defies categorization with their brilliant combination of physical theatre, circus, athleticism and comedy. The dancer-illusionists use light, shadow, larger-than-life props and the human body to create a mesmerizing and thought-provoking performance.
The Star Ledger said, "Botanica is the IMAX version of dance-theater."
"Botanica," the newest production of Pendleton and MOMIX, was inspired by the changing of seasons. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther College campus. Tickets are available through the Luther Box Office by calling (563) 387-1357 or online at http://www.boxoffice.luther.edu.
Cost is $25 for adults, $23 for seniors age 65 and up and $15 for youth ages 4-18. The Box Office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
The performance, based on the natural world and its changing seasons, is supported by the backdrop of an eclectic score ranging from birdsong to Vivaldi.
MOMIX has given several stage performances worldwide in addition to the company's film and television work. They recently performed as part of a national commercial for Hanes underwear and in a Target ad that premiered during the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
The MOMIX performance is an official partner of Women's Weekend Out in Decorah. Registrants of WWO can receive a discount to the performance. For more information on WWO or to register go to: http://www.visitdecorah.com/womensweekendout.html.
