Luther College to present Varsity Band and Wind and Percussion Ensemble Concert Nov. 12

The Luther College Varsity Band and Wind and Percussion Ensemble will present a fall concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus. Varsity Band will perform "Suite on Celtic Folk Songs" by Tomohiro Tatebe, "Appalachian Overture" by James Barnes, "Prelude and Celebration" by James Curnow and "Beguine for Band" by Glenn Osser.

Luther College to host the 57th annual Dorian Keyboard Festival

Luther College will host the 57th annual Dorian Keyboard Festival Nov. 7-9. Middle and high school piano and organ students, from approximately 30 private studios, come to campus for a chance to experience Luther, work one-on-one with music faculty and perform in public recitals.

Center Stage Series: Anonymous 4 at Luther College Nov. 6

Anonymous 4, covering everything from medieval music to contemporary classical, will perform as part of Luther College's Center Stage Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall. Since forming Anonymous 4 in 1986, the group has recorded 20 albums and performed for sold-out audiences on major concert series throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Oct. 30

Luther College will host Hispanic Month Celebration "Hispanics: A legacy of history, a present of action and future of success" from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Hammarskjold Lounge in Luther College's Dahl Centennial Union. Pastor David Vasquez will also be honored for his service to the Luther community.

Luther College presents Religion Forum Series Oct. 30

The Luther College Religion Department will host the first Religion Forum in the 2014-15 Religion Forum Series "Teaching Religion at a College of the Church" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 in the Franklin W. Olin Building Room 102. The panel will facilitate conversation on what it means to teach biblical studies at an ELCA college and at Luther College in particular.

Luther College Art Song Jamboree Nov. 10

The first Song Jam of the 2014-15 Luther College Art Song Jamboree series will be held at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus. The Art Song Jamboree series is dedicated to the exploration of art song written by women composers of all eras and nationalities, and in all musical styles and languages.

Recently awarded the Collegiate Scholar ranking at the University of Iowa, School of Art, recognizing newly promoted faculty members who excel in both teaching and creative work, Susan Chrysler White, professor of painting at the University of Iowa, will feature her new paintings in an exhibit titled "Flash Point" in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts on the Luther campus Oct. 24 – Dec. 12.
