Terry E. Sparkes, Luther College associate dean, director of curriculum development, and director of the college honors program, has been named to the prestigious Thrivent Fellows Program.
The Fellows Program identifies exceptional leaders and encourages and prepares them to serve in senior leadership roles in Lutheran agencies and institutions. The program includes a rigorous 12-month executive fellowship that fosters leadership capacity and promotes the sustainability of agencies and institutions of the Lutheran Church through the ongoing formation and development of its most promising leaders.
Selection of Thrivent Fellows is based on candidates’ dedication to the mission and distinctiveness of Lutheran colleges, seminaries and universities, a strong record of service to these institutions, a clear potential for top-level leadership, and vocational call to lead these institutions.
Through their participation in intensive retreats and seminars, Thrivent Fellows gain increased knowledge and understanding of Lutheran traditions and values, stronger awareness of their own leadership capacities, discernment of personal and professional goals, and a plan for professional growth. They also acquire greater knowledge of key financial and management issues facing these complex enterprises, and an expanded network of relationships with other Lutheran higher education leaders.
The Fellows Program is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America, the Council of College and University Presidents of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Board for University Education of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the Unit for Vocation and Education of the ELCA.
