Sustainability to offer gardening classes for area residents

Luther College Sustainability, in collaboration with the Pepperfield Project, will offer a series of three gardening classes for Decorah area residents: "Gardening 101," Saturday, April 30; "Planning a Fall Garden," Saturday, June 18; and "Extending the Season," Saturday, Aug. 6.

Sustainability challenges community to 'Veg Yourself Pledge'

Luther College Sustainability is challenging people to participate in "The Veg Yourself Pledge," a project to join Luther students, faculty and staff in a pledge to eat vegetarian at least once a week until the end of the college's spring semester, May 22.

Luther to host 2011 NAHA-Norway seminar June 14-17

Luther College will host the 11th seminar of the Norway chapter of the Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA), bringing together specialists, researchers and writers in Norwegian-American literature, linguistics, religious studies, history, social science, fine and folk arts, and cultural studies to share information in the context of international migration and ethnic studies.

Senior Junette Maxis earns Clinton Global Initiative Grant

Luther College senior Junette Maxis of Delmas, Haiti, took center stage with former President Bill Clinton April 2 at the Clinton Global Initiative University 2011, accepting President Clinton's accolades and a CGIU Outstanding Commitment Award for her work in organizing and establishing an economic recovery project in her earthquake-devastated home country.
