Luther College announces Karen Julesberg Scholarship

Hailey Prohaska, Luther College junior from Platteville, Wisconsin, has received the Karen Julesberg Scholarship for the 2014-15 academic year. The $1,000 scholarship was created by Karen Julesberg of Madison, Wisconsin, a 1960 graduate of Luther College. The award benefits Luther students involved in Student Support Services, a federal TRIO program sponsored by Luther for 40 years.

Luther College students selected for Davis Projects for Peace

Luther College students Ervin Liz, class of 2016; Mahadeva Illanco Kavindra, class of 2015; and Noorullah Zafari, class of 2015, were selected to have their projects funded in the competitive Davis Projects for Peace program. The Projects for Peace program is an invitation to undergraduates at American colleges and universities in the Davis United World College Scholars Program to design grassroots projects that can be implemented around the world. The projects judged to be the most promising and feasible are funded with $10,000 each.

Luther graduate Maddy Kofoed receives Fulbright award

The Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board has selected Maddy Kofoed as the fourth Luther graduate to receive a Fulbright award for the 2014-15 academic year. The highly competitive Fulbright foreign scholarship award provides funds for a year's educational experience abroad, including travel, health insurance and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.

Entrepreneurs bring real-life experience to the classroom

Thirteen entrepreneurs shared their stories with Luther students during spring semester 2014, adding a real-life dimension to a variety of business classes. Tim Schweizer, professor of management, coordinated the speakers series, which included Luther graduates starting their own companies, experienced managers in banking and technology, and leading cloud computer expert Bernard Golden.
