Earth and Environment in Italy Program

The Earth and Environment in Italy program is for students interested in field-based studies of Earth system processes and their impact on humans. The program includes coursework and independent research in Earth science, as well as Italian instruction and an art course examining the communication of scientific ideas through visual means. Students live, study and cook together in renovated 12th century Italian farmhouses at the Geologic Observatory of Coldigioco. Eligibility: The prerequisite for the program is one lab science course. Application decisions will be made based on academic record, personal essays and letters of reference. Preference will be given to qualified Luther students for up to 6 program spots.
Program costs: Luther comprehensive fee plus airfare to Italy (fee covers tuition, room and board, health insurance and all travel while in Italy except during program vacations).
