President’s Council and Legacy Trust Scholarship recognition events

Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, 2011

Each year Luther College recognizes members of the President’s Council and Legacy Trust with a special spring weekend campus event. Legacy Trust Scholarship donors and their student recipients are honored at a Saturday luncheon, and President’s Council donors are recognized at dinner Saturday evening. Donors may attend information sessions Saturday afternoon and enjoy various student-ensemble performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, or watch the Luther Norse compete.

Friday, May 6

7:30 p.m.  Opera performance, Street Scene, CFL

7:30 p.m.  Dance performance, The Assemblage Point, Jewel Theatre, Center for the Arts

Saturday, May 7

10:45 a.m.-4:45 a.m.  Check-in, Main Lounge, Dahl Centennial Union

11:15 a.m.  Legacy Trust Scholarship luncheon, Peace Dining Room

1:30 p.m.  Session 1: Luther History Walk--begins at Bentdahl Commons (rain location Center for the Arts)

            Take a guided tour of Luther's past through this sesquicentennial-inspired living history performance event. Costumed actors stationed throughout campus bring to life many of the people and pivotal moments that have shaped the college since 1861.  Meet a few founders at the Pioneer Memorial; relive the aftermath of the 1889 fire from the porch of Campus House; consider being among the first women to graduate from Luther in the '30s, and more. 

2:40 p.m.  Session 2: Task Group 150, An Update--Mott Borlaug Rooms

             Task Group 150 was appointed by President Torgerson to address the most serious challenges confronting the college at a time of economic constraints and demographic shifts and to position the college for a future filled with hope and abundance.

3:30 p.m.  Session 3: Luther Sketches by the Sustainable Sesquicentennial Six--Campus Recital Hall, Center for Faith and Life

             Current students will perform a lighthearted romp through Luther’s sensational saga. The show starts promptly at 3:30; don’t be late!                                   

5:00 p.m.  President’s Council recognition dinner, Peace Dining Room

7:30 p.m.  Opera performance, Street Scene, CFL

7:30 p.m.  Dance performance, The Assemblage Point, Jewel Theatre, Center for the Arts

Sunday, May 8

            10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Peace brunch (reservations required, as May 8 is Mother's Day; call Catina Ward, 563.387.1030)

            10:00 a.m.  Worship service

            11:30 a.m.  Life member brunch

            2:00 p.m.  Lucille Stansberry Rosholt Distinction in Accompanying Finalist student recital, Noble Recital Hall
