The Barbara Bahe Endowed Scholarship Fund, to be awarded to a native-speaking German student from a university in Germany, Austria, or German-speaking Switzerland to attend Luther College, or to a Luther student to study in a German-speaking country.
The Christian E. and Hazel S. Bale Memorial Scholarship, established by John and Mabel Bale in honor of the lifetime of service in the church and in Christian higher education of Christian and Hazel Bale, this scholarship shall be awarded to junior or senior English majors with above average academic ability and the need for financial assistance.
The John and Mabel Bale Scholarship, established in honor of John and Mabel Bale’s many years of service and dedication to Luther College and the community, to be awarded to senior English majors.
The Susan Maclay Blackman Fellowship for Study Abroad, to be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of financial need, for study in a developing region of the world (Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, or Latin America).
The M. Jane Borelli Endowed Scholarhip was established by Mary Jane Borelli and Glenn Nelson to be awarded to qualified students who are planning to major in language study, with first preference given to students majoring in classical languages.
The Paul D. Borge Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of Paul Borge ’47 by his wife Fern to be awarded to students majoring in communications or who intend to go to the seminary and who can show evidence of need for financial assistance.
The Ruth Caldwell and Uwe Rudolf Study-Abroad Scholarship, to be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of financial need with preference given to students seeking study-abroad opportunities in French speaking countries.
The Randa J. Duvick Scholarship, established by Don and Selma Duvick in honor of their daughter Randa, to be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of financial need with preference given to those intending to major in French.
The Ingeborg Goessl Study Abroad Scholarship, to be awarded to students with a need for financial assistance who desire to study abroad, with preference given to students with a German major or minor or those students wishing to study a German speaking country.
The Rasmus J. and Gudrun K. Thorson Harr Scholarship, established by the Harr family to provide scholarships for students in need for financial assistance with preference given to those majoring in Scandinavian Studies.
The Elmo and Margaret Gulsvig Endowed Scholarship, established by Ann and John Bergstad, to be awarded to qualified students planning to major in English, with demonstrated need for financial assistance.
The Dennis Miears Jones Endowed Fund for English, established by the family, friends, and alumni of Luther College in recognition of Professor Jones’ years of dedicated service to Luther College and as a memorial to the loving attention he gave to his students. Funds may be awarded to students, used for special library or African-American literature purchases, or for English department purposes.
The Kathryn E. Kalsow Scholarship, established in memory of Kathryn Kalsow to be awarded to students who demonstrate talent and scholarship in Scandinavian Studies.
The Frederick W. Moen Communications Scholarship, established by the Moen and Reinhart families as a memorial to Frederick W. Moen and his work in journalism and communications, to be awarded to students majoring in communications or English.
The Harland and Corinne Nelson Scholarship Fund, established by Harland and Corinne Nelson in gratitude for the privilege of working with Luther College students and faculty and staff colleagues, to be awarded to students majoring in English who present evidence of financial need.
The Fran and Miriam Strum Odden Scholarship, established in support of the Luther College mission statement for qualified students in the humanities field who can show evidence of need for financial assistance.
The Orlando W. and Clara P. Qualley Classical Scholarship, established to foster interest in classical studies at Luther College. Awards are given to the highest ranking classical students of the senior or junior class who are taking advanced work in Greek or Latin.
The Freeman and Marie Hoffland Sampson Scholarship, established by Dorothy Sampson Roelfs to be awarded to exceptionally gifted students who are interested in a liberal arts education, with preference given to English majors.
The Nicolas Remfrey Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded to qualified students majoring in modern language at Luther College for a study abroad experience.
The Steven B. Schaver Spanish Studies Scholarship, to be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of financial need, who are majoring in Spanish, and are participating in a Spanish study-abroad program.
The Spanish Study Abroad Scholarship Fund, established by a Luther College alumna, who was a Spanish major, to provide scholarships for junior and senior Spanish majors to study in a Hispanic country.
The Henry O. Talle Scholarship, established by Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Merriman in honor of Mrs. Merriman’s father, Henry O. Talle, for many years a professor at Luther College, to be awarded to outstanding junior students in communications.
The Ella Valborg Rolvaag Tweet Scholarship in Scandinavian Studies, to be awarded to qualified students in need of financial assistance enrolled in Norwegian Language and Scandinavian Studies, with special preference for students to study in Norway.
The Wigeland/American-Scandinavian Foundation Scholarship Fund, to be awarded to outstanding students of Scandinavian Studies at Luther College for a year of study in Scandinavia. Awards may also be given to worthy Scandinavians to enable such individuals to enroll at Luther College as regular students or to participate in the Luther College Institute in American Studies for Scandinavian Educators.
